Scattering theory, spring 2008LecturerProf. Lassi PäivärintaLecturesPeriods III and IV on Wednesdays 12:00-14:00, room B322. The first lecture is on 16th Jan. The course continues from the fall semester. No lecture on March 5th (lecture break). ContentsThe course will be based on the book of L. Hörmander, Analysis of Linear Partial Differential Operators II, Chapter XIV (Scattering theory). Scattering theory may be understood as spectral theory for Schrödinger operators. The course will begin with an introduction to spectral theory for unbounded self-adjoint operators. The prerequisites are Real analysis 1, Functional analysis and rudiments of Fourier analysis and distribution theory. The course may be taken for credit (5 opintopiste per semester) by doing exercises. Course notesThe course notes will be posted here in pdf form.
