10. Research funding and current projects
I have received 657.875,00 € of funding during 2003-2008 (own and co-authorized proposals). The funding organizations include the Academy of Finland, the European Science Foundation, the Nordic Working Group on Fisheries Research, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Ministry of Environment, Maj and Tor Nessling Foundation, and several other foundations.
My current research projects include
● ”Evolution of visual signals in sexual selection of the Arctic char” (funded by the Academy of Finland, 2008-2010). Several national and international collaborators, including Prof. Craig Primmer from the University of Turku, Finland, and Prof. Ivar Folstad, University of Tromssö, Norway.
● ”Conservation genetics and conservation ecology of the freshwater pearl mussel Margaritifera margaritifera” (funded by Maj and Tor Nessling Foundation, 2008-2010). National and international collaborators, such as Prof. Juergen Geist, University of Muenchen, Germany.
● ”Looking fish in the eye—cataract as a problem in fish farming” (funded by the Nordic Working Group on Fisheries Research, NAF, 2005-2007). A joint project by researchers from Finland, Sweden and Norway, principal investigator Dr. Nina Peuhkuri, Finnish Game and Fisheries Reserch Institute.
● “Development of artificial culture of the parasitic glochidia larvae of the freshwater clams” (funded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, 2005-2007)
