Many Body Problems / Statistical Physics II

  • Basic information on the course to be given in May-June 2016 available in Korppi.
  • The lecture notes and other course material are available in Koppa.
  • The contents and schedule of the course can be found here.
  • The full literature list for the course is here.

  • Note: The information below this point is related to the course given in 2011.

  • Lectures: 36 hours, 9 weeks, in May-June 2011, by J.M.
  • Completion mode: Exercises (40%) and Exam (60%). The basic version of the course gives 9 cr, the optional 3 credits are available from challenging theoretical excercises, which are done during the course. Depending on the number of credits (9-12) the workload is 240-360 hours, which means 25-35 hours/week.
  • The extended course is at the PhD study level in University of Jyvaskyla (see the PhD degree requirements in the Study Guide). The course is available for students in Tampere University of Technology via the University Alliance.
  • Contents: Statistical physics, nonequilibrium thermodynamics, correlation and response functions, phase transitions, transport phenomena and hydrodynamics.
  • Contact persons: Juha Merikoski (Jyvaskyla) and Jaakko Akola (Tampere).
