Technological measures and FLOSS

• Accessing protected content with any program or other means not expressly authorized becomes illegal
• Distributing &c of such also illegal (not private possession though)
• Free video players, programs for playing copy-protected "CDs" &c
• What if same technology protects legal rights (copying of protected works) and others (area codes, non-copyrighted works)?

Threats:

• Can't use FLOSS for accessing (increasing) network distribution of copyrighted works
• Do-it-yourself digibox, HD recorder &c illegal
• Developing and studying cryptography and other similar technologies openly increasingly difficult, even for unrelated purposes
• Privacy: you can't know what your computer tells about you - no right to read anonymously
