I was born in February 1967 in Varkaus,
Finland. I have also grown up in Varkaus with my parents
and my elder brother. We all, except my brother, still
live in Varkaus, which is a small industrialized city in
Eastern Finland. Varkaus has 25.000 inhabitants and its
main industries are forest and engineering industry.
I passed a matriculation examination in the High School
of Päiviönssaari in Varkaus in 1986. I graduated
from the University of Helsinki with a Master of Law degree in
1991. I have just started my postgraduate studies in
jurisprudence at the same university. I am hoping to get
a Licentiate in Laws degree in 1996. I passed a reserve
officer examination in 1988. My present military rank is
a lieutenant.
After my graduation I worked for a while as an associate
lawyer in the Law Office Ullakonoja. Then I worked for a
year as a trainee judge in the Judicial Court of Varkaus.
Therefore the Court of Appeal of Eastern Finland confered
a title that can be translated "Master of Laws (trained
on the bench)" on me. Since 1992 I have worked as an
associate lawyer in the Law Office Ullakonoja. I passed
an advocate examination in 1993 and I shall become a
member of the Finnish Bar Association after a four year
of working experience in May 1995. Our law office has two
other attorneys. We all are typical general lawyers.
My family consists of me and my wife Leena and my two
little daughters Laura and Lotta. Because our children
are so young (three years and one year old) my wife is
right now a housewife. Her profession is an artisan and
her studies in business administration are unfinished at
present.
My interests are literature, music, genealogy, sport and
postgraduate studies. Anyway I am trying to be with my
family as much as possible.
