About IT Services for research
Network drives and websites for projects
- Plone CMS (actively supported) or self-maintained (limited support) in JYU servers
- Network drives: preferably as Windows shared folders (S:\)
- Linux shares (optionally visible in www), Windows shares visible in Linux, OS X shares etc. available on request as well
- Secure, fault tolerant, automated backups
- Project materials archiving example: http://imperia.jyu.fi/
- Plone-based project pages
- At the project completion, archival version of the web site relocated under departmental pages
- Permanently storable materials with metadata transferred to JYX

Confluence wiki

- Flexible user rights (after the user has been initially added and logged in once)
- Visibility can be set to e.g. public, available to logged in -users or space members, optionally with page-specific restrictions
- Also for external users
- Collaborative writing and sharing of materials, (small-scale) file management, meeting minutes, project documentation, planning...
- Numerous plug-ins
- E.g. custom diagrams in wiki pages

- Citable datasets with on-line analysis and visualization capability
- Still experimental service, limited support
- Some overlap with planned JYX functionality
- Researchers may upload their own datasets, multiple versions supported

- Dataverse has been covered e.g. in ITP seminars of 2014 and 2015, but no regular training is available at this stage
- You can contact Library or IT Services for request on training tailored for unit's specific needs
