WINSE and error correction methods in WiMAX Henrik Martikainen WINSE is a WiMAX extension to NS-2 which is an open source packet simulator. WINSE has been under development by WIMALE project here at the MIT department since 2006 and it has a very wide range of WiMAX features implemented even in a global scale. I have used the simulator to study different error correction methods in WiMAX. Errors are always present with wireless transmissions. WiMAX has two error correction methods to provide an error free channel to the applications. These are Automatic Repeat Request (ARQ) and Hybrid ARQ (HARQ). In my presentation I will introduce WINSE/NS2 simulator, give a brief overview on ARQ/HARQ methods and show how do they work in different situations.
