This announcement consists of the following sections:
Rationale
The aims of workshop are to
- discuss the biology and assess the status of Lesser
White-fronted Goose,
- provide input into the revision of the international Action
plan for the target species and agree on its goals and objectives,
- act as background information for national action plans for
the species
Researchers and nature conservationists are invited to
participate. The official language will be English.
The workshop will be held in Helsinki and Lammi, Finland, from
31 March to 2 April 2005. The national workshop concerning the
conservation strategy of Lesser White-fronted Goose population in
Finland will be held after the international workshop on Sunday,
April 3, 2005.

Participation
The organizers welcome researchers and
conservationists from all countries. Prospective participants must
return a registration form by mail or e-mail by March 15. The
Conference fee (EUR 100) may be paid at the arrival.

and fees (Details updated Mar 18)
- Registration and Opening will take place in Helsinki at the
Conference Center on the Zoo on the island
Högholmen/Korkeasaari.
- The organizers arrange a special bus
from downtown Helsinki to Korkeasaari. The ZOO fee need not be
payed at entrance!
- The workshop itself will be held in Lammi at a biological
station of the University of Helsinki. Lammi is located at
Häme district about 130 kilometers from Helsinki and 100 from
Tampere.
- The best way to reach Helsinki is by by flight directly or via
Tampere or by train. In some cases flights via Tallinn or
Stockholm are advantageous.
- Transportation to Lammi will be arranged by the organizers on
31 March from Helsinki to Lammi and in April 2 from Lammi to
Helsinki and Airport. Guests arriving via Tampere airport should
ask for transport possibilities as well.
- The workshop fee, 100 euros, should be paid at the beginning
of the workshop. Paying in advance is
possible on request; please contact <piskulka.conf@maths.jyu.fi> . The conference fee will cover the
scientific programme, the opening
dinner, transportation from Helsinki or Tampere to Lammi
and back and a proceedings paper.
- Accommodation and meals at Lammi
Biological Station cost 92 Euros. This includes:
- rooms (2 nights, bed in double
room)
- meals (2 breakfast, 2 lunch, 1
dinner, 3 coffee/tea)
- sauna (2).
- The fee for single room acccommodation
is 10 euros per night.
- Those wishing to stay at the station
until sunday will in addition be charged 39 euros. This
includes:
- rooms (1 night, bed in double
room)
- meals (1 dinner, 1 breakfast)
- The fee for lunch on sunday is 8 euros.
- Participants may apply for financial support for travel and
accommodation. This should preferrably be
done in advance. Details about this will be provided
