HyperSoft:
A hypertext approach to software maintenance support
7th International
Conference on Information Systems Engineering: Current Practice and Future
Prospects (CAiSE'95): 2nd Doctoral Consortium on Advanced Information
Systems Engineering, 30-31. Eds: Assar, S. & Plihon, V. Conf. location:
Jyväskylä, Finland. June 12-16, 1995.
This research begun in autumn 1993 and was financed
(togethet with my other Ph.Lic. studies) during the 1994 by the Jyväskylän
Kauppalaisseuran Säätiö. From the beginning of the 1995 I have been working as
a full-time application designer in the HyperSoft -project, funded by the
Technology Development Centre of Finland (TEKES), University of Jyväskylä and
our partner enterprises. The research problem: The research seeks to answer how
program text (source code) could be described as hypertext based on the
HyperSoft-model developed in our project, and what hypertextual access
structures would be useful in supporting program comprehension in real
settings. Hard problems related to the research include e.g. how to effectively
support program comprehension, how program text should be represented as
hypertext, and how program slicing based on static program analysis could be
implemented effectively in order to produce the hypertextual access structures.
