I have retired on 1 August 2011, but am still participating in the activities of the department, e.g. by supervising master’s theses.

Main research area: object-oriented programming and object-oriented languages. Main research community: AITO (Association Internationale pour les Technologies Objets).

I am the editor-in-chief of Tietojenkäsittelytiede, the journal of the Finnish Society for Computer Science, from May 2012 on.

I was the main organiser of the MASPEGHI (MechAnisms for SPEcialization, Generalization and inHerItance) workshop, which took place in connection with ECOOP 2013 (European Conference on Object-Oriented Programming) in July.

I am the chair of the prize committee of AITO's Dahl-Nygaard Prizes, to be awarded at ECOOP 2015. I am also a co-organiser of the MASPEGHI workshop at the conference.
